Unpacking and Set-Up Options
Related to unpacking and set-up,McAvey Moving offers a range of options as well:
McAvey Moving services can conclude with us unloading your items at your new home. We can unpack boxes to the rooms you specify ahead of time. If you have items such as antiques, pianos, or electronics that require special set-up or crating, we can provide that service as well.
McAvey Moving offers packing and crating services performed by experienced staff members who use the most modern materials and methods. Before you start packing, it is a good idea to go through all of your goods, and give away or throw away what you don’t need. Refrigerators and freezers MUST BE EMPTY when moving. Flammable, combustible and caustic items cannot be transported by your mover. i.e.: paints, oils, fire extinguishers, aerosol cans, propane tanks, bleach, etc.
McAvey Moving’s packing services can be customized to the unique needs of your move. Undecided as to what is best for you? Call our planner to help you select from among your options including:
- entire home packing and unpacking at your destination
- custom crating for fragile items
- dropping off supplies for the DYI customer
MCAvey Moving can assist with all your packing needs. When it comes to moving, preparation prior to the move day is the key. We’ve experienced all types of moves over the past 35 years and anticipate problems before they occur or respond to minimize the impact of the occasional hiccups.

Want to make your Local or Long-Distance Move Stress-Free? To move the right way, call McAvey.
Our team can pack everything for you, or just help for a portion of the time with our hourly labor services customized to the unique specifications of your move.
The Per-Room Package
If you have a handle on most of your house, but might feel challenged by storage areas or kitchens, McAvey Moving does offer a per-room package where we charge an hourly rate for labor. The hourly rate goes down if you bookmore packers for a longer period of time. If you have some supplies on hand but not for specialty items such as appliances or electronics, McAvey Moving can offer specific supplies. If you need reusable boxes or other specialty items, let us know. For in-town or short distance moves, consider moving small lamps, tables or clothing on your own – even if it takes multiple cross-town trips.
How Much Will Packing Services Cost?
Depending on the size of your home, the complexity of items to be packed, and any unique needs you may have, prices vary. We visit your home in person to provide an accurate, itemized quote that is guaranteed for 30 days.
In a 2,000 square foot home, you might pay:
- $650 – $1,000 with your own boxes, $900+ for boxes included
If you do go the route of just one room or a few items, you’ll likely pay for 3 hours of work with 1-2 packers at $35 – $50 per packer or likely in the $300+ range.
While it is always prudent to work within a budget, remember it is often the case that: cheap isn’t good and good isn’t cheap. The most expensive option is selecting a poor service that takes time and ends up costing more because it has to be redone by a better provider. Whatever extra dollars you spend on packing, keep in mind that peace of mind is priceless. Whether partial packing services to full unpacking services, our professional packers save time and have provided top rate customer service before, throughout and after the moving and packing process for the past 35 years.
